COVET EARNESTLY THE BEST GIFTS

"But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way." (1 Corinthians 12:31 KJV)

Yesterday we saw that the best gift happens to be any gift that is most needed at any point in time depending on the situation at hand.

And the word of God says that we should covet earnestly the best gifts. Thus, because any of these gifts can be the best gift at any point in time depending on issue being addressed, this implies that we should actually desire to operate in all these gifts so that we make use of any of them that is most needed at any time.

Now note that to 'covet' something, from the Greek word 'zeloo' means to move or burn with envy or be jealous for that particular thing. And it is seen as a sinful attitude which the children of God are not to emulate. But when it comes to spiritual gifts, the word of God says that we are to covet, burn with envy or be jealous for them. And this talks about the zeal, passion or seriousness we should demonstrate in our pursuit of these gifts.

This implies that whereas the Holy Spirit is the career of all these gifts, and also the one who manifest them in and through us, we must demonstrate a serious passion for them before they can be manifest in and through us. And this calls for constant communion with the Holy Spirit through prayers, fasting, service, studies, meditation, giving and every other spiritual exercise that the Holy Spirit will inspire you to do in your moments of intimacy with Him in our pursuit of these gifts in Jesus name. Amen!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the opportunity to operate in all the gifts of the Spirit. I declare that I covet all these gifts of the Spirit and operate in them all in Jesus name. Amen!
