THE SOURCE OF GRACE
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." (John 1:17, KJV)
The word of God says the law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. This implies that our Lord Jesus Christ is the source of grace.
Thus, Grace is not the work of man, nor is it the work of any other being. It is strictly the work of God in a man and its reflection in his life. But whereas God is the source of grace, we see from the scriptures that grace is specially attributed to our Lord Jesus Christ within the Holy Trinity, just as love is attributed unto the Father and our fellowship with God unto the Holy Spirit. Thus, we usually see the phrase: "the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 16:23).
Now the English word "of," is from the Greek word "ek" or "ex" which means the source of a thing or action or whatever. So the word of God usually using the phrase "the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ" implies that our Lord Jesus Christ is the one from whom grace emanates or comes from, and this makes Him the very source of all grace to the Glory of God the Father. Amen!
