GRACE AND MERCY
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Heb 4:16, KJV)
There are some Biblical terms that people use interchangeably, even though they are not the same. Some of these Biblical terms are grace and mercy. Sometimes these two words are used as though they are the same, but they are not.
We've already defined grace as the working of God in our Spirit and its reflection in our physical life. Mercy on the other hand is pardon for sin or offence. Thus, whiles grace is God working in you and manifesting Himself through you, mercy is you being forgiven your sins or iniquities. And these two are very essential in our daily walk with the Lord.
Thus, our opening text declares that we should come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy, which is forgiveness for our sins, iniquities, errors or short falls and find grace to help in times of need. Thus, instead of condemning yourself because of one fault or the other, the word says just ask for your forgiveness and obtain or receive it by faith and engage the Lord for more grace to help you accomplish that which God has appointed for you to accomplish. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
Prayer/Confession Heavenly Father I thank you for your grace and mercy which You've given me. I declare that I receive pardon for all my shortfalls and access greater dimensions of grace to help me accomplish every task You have appointed for me in Jesus name. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
