DESPISE THE SHAME
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2 KJV)
One challenge that many Christians have which prevent them from enduring their cross and running the race that God has set before them is sometimes the seemingly temporary shame that they may have to endure as part of the cross.
Now let's look at our Lord Jesus Christ's own cross that He endured. Know that in those days the death by the cross was the most shameful and painful kind of death which was given unto the worst of all criminals. No other death was as painful and shameful as the death of the cross in the days of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But the word of God says after laying his glory aside and coming in the form of a man He humiliated Himself unto death even this kind of shameful death on the cross and it was after this that God the Father raise Him up into eternal glory ones again (Philippians 2:5-11).
So in like manner, sometimes the things that we go through as part of fulfilling our destinies or the purpose of God will require that we temporarily endure some shame. But if we are to look at the shame, we may never endure our own cross. But by taking our eyes away from the shame and looking unto Jesus as our example we are filled with the boldness to endure our cross, knowing that like our Lord Jesus Christ, the shame is only temporary and it's merely part of the process to bring us into our eternal glory. And this is mainly why the word says that we should look away from every other thing, including the shame unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith in enduring our cross and running the race that has been set before us to the glory of God in Jesus name. Amen!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the grace You have given me to endure my cross and despise every shame that pertains unto the running of the race You have set for me. I declare that by this grace I am set on my high place in Jesus name. Amen!
