DON'T DESPISE YOUR FATHER

"And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:" (Hebrews 12:5 KJV)

We learnt that one key responsibility of fathers is to groom and discipline their children to grow into their likeness and even better. Thus, a son should be at least like his father or better than his father. Hallelujah!

But there are times that sons in their growing process begin to despise their fathers for one reason or the other, or simply because they see themselves becoming better than their father.

In such situations, instead of appreciating the work of the father that is transforming them and making their lives become better and better as the days go by, they rather see how they have become better and its as though their father does not seem to be as glorious as they might have desired him to be and this makes them to begin to despise him.

Some even go to the extent of denying who their father is in the midst of friends or colleagues. It is usually from there that they begin to despise the chastening of their father. Their despise of the chastening of the father actually begins within them as a despise of the father himself, even before their despise of his chastisement. And this actually becomes detrimental to them.

So as a son, never despise your father for whatever reason. And always remember the impact he makes in your life that brings about your glorious transformation and keep on appreciating God for his life in Jesus name. Amen!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of my father. I declare that I refuse to despise my father and his chastisement in my life and I grow from glory to glory even by the Spirit of the living God in Jesus name. Amen!
