EUTHEOS!
"And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught." (Mar 1:21 KJV)
In our devotional text for today, the word of God says that our Lord Jesus Christ went to Capernaum with His disciples and straightway on the Sabbath day, He went into the synagogue and taught. Hallelujah!
Straightway is from the Greek word "eutheos," which means immediately or urgently. Thus, the word of God declares that Jesus went to the synagogue with urgency to go and teach.
And throughout the Gospels especially the book of Mark, we see that our Lord Jesus Christ saw ministry and particularly soul winning as an urgent work. In other words, He did not see soul winning as a work that should be delayed or handled slothfully, but as a work that must be handled with urgency or immediacy. Hallelujah!
The urgency of soul winning is what our Lord Jesus Christ emphasized unto His immediate disciples when He declared to them that they should not say there is yet four months before Harvest comes, for the fields are already for harvest (John 4:35).
And the importance of urgency in soul winning is emphatically stressed in the gospel of mark, where its Greek word eutheos is used about 44 times and in almost every ministerial operation of our Lord Jesus Christ: from His teaching, to His preaching, to His healings, to His miracles, and every other area of His ministry. And it was this virtue that actually made Him to finish His earthly ministry in just three (3) years. Hallelujah!
And He is telling us today that just as He did on earth, we must not delay with soul winning or ministry. But we must rise and engage in the work of the harvest of souls right now, because now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Glory to God! Hallelujah!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for reminding me today of the urgency of soul winning and ministry. I declare that from today I win souls and fulfil my ministry with urgency and I'm empowered by the Holy Ghost to do so in Jesus name. Amen!
