HOLD UNTO ETERNAL LIFE
"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." (1 Timothy 6:12 KJV)
We've seen that the main responsibility of a soldier is to fight for the one that appoints him as a solider. And that our lives as christians is described as that of soldier who fight for our Lord Jesus Christ and His Glorious Kingdom.
We've also seen that this fight is a good fight of faith in that it borders on our faith and it is by faith that we engage in this battle. And because of this the main agenda of the adversary against us as children of God is to cause us to lose our faith in God, which is our confidence, focus, or trust in God and his ability.
Thus, in our devotional text, the word of God affirms this by saying that as we fight the good fight of faith, we should lay hold on eternal life, whereunto we have been called. In order words we should ensure we are holding unto the eternal life or salvation that we have in Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
Thus the main focus of fighting this good fight of faith is to hold unto eternal life. The reason why the main aim of we fighting the good fight of faith is to hold unto eternal life is because the main agenda of the enemy against us is for us to lose that eternal life that we have in Christ Jesus.
But most christians are not aware of this reality, and so they let the main focus of their spiritual engagements to be on some material things and those things when achieved draw them away from God, so that whiles they ignorantly boast of material success, the devil boast of victory over them. But this ought not to be our story in Jesus name. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
