"Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth." (Ephesians 6:2-3 KJV)

The word of God says, we should honour our father and mother and honouring our father and mother is the first commandment with promise. And the promise is that it will be well with us, and that we will live long on the earth. Hallelujah!

Thus, the honour that we show to our parents, both physical and spiritual parents is not an option for us but something that is mandatory. It is a commandment from God. Hallelujah!

And the word of God says this commandment of honouring our parents actually has a promise. And the promise is that it makes us to do well or prosper and also causes us to live long on this earth. Hallelujah!

Thus, whereas the Lord commands us to honour our parents, He also shows us the benefits or blessings of doing so. And this is to cause us to prosper and to live long. Praise the Lord!

Now, first of all, understanding that honouring our parents is a commandment from God, implies that we are required to do it irrespective of what it takes or the sacrifice that it demands. We should know that our parents take care of us as a sacrifice and the honour that we show them should also be a sacrifice. And the beautiful thing about this sacrifice is that it comes with great blessings of prosperity and long life.

And this honour is demonstrated in our service to them, our prayers for them, our obedience to their counsel, our giving unto them and celebrating them in various ways as we feel led by the Spirit of God in Jesus name. Amen!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of my natural and spiritual parents. I declare that as I honour my parents, I prosper in every area of my life, and I live long on this earth in Jesus name. Amen!
