"And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power." (Ephesians 1:19 KJV)

The second word used to describe the power or strength of God by the Holy Spirit in the believer is "Ischus."  This is what is translated into "mighty" in our devotional text.

"Ischus" properly translate into inner strength, stamina, or toughness and refers to ones capacity or ability to stand even in the face of adversities or hardship. This talks about the ability to endure things and still stand.

Now comparing "ischus" with "energia," we see that energia is normal spiritual strength that makes you able to go about your normal spiritual activities, but ischus is that inner strength that makes you to endure hardness.

Comparing them naturally, ischus is that stamina that soldiers are made to have by the hard trainings that are given to them which distinguishes them from civilians who only have energia and some limited amount of ischus.

As a Christian, once you can go about your normal spiritual activities energia is working in you, but what will sustain you when some serious storms hit you is ischus. This is why the King James version translated it into "might" or "mighty" which is actually the ability to  overcome. Hallelujah!

But this ischus too like energia is the operation of the Holy Spirit in us, and the more we yield to the training of the Holy Spirit, the more He builds this ischus, spiritual stamina, or inner strength in and through us. Glory to God! Hallelujah!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the 'ischus' of the Holy Spirit in the inside of me. I declare that I endure and prevail over all things by virtue of the ischus of the Holy Spirit within me in Jesus name. Amen!
