OVERCOMERS OF THE WORLD

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." (1 John 5:4 KJV)

Apostle John said by the Holy Ghost that, whatsoever is born of overcomes the world. What did he mean by the world?

In actual sense the New Testament teachings identifies three meanings of the word 'world.'

The first use of this word from the Greek word "kosmos" refers to the universe, the earth or the adornment of the earth. That is all that we read of in Genesis 1:3-26 that God created, including even human beings. The second usage of the word from the Greek word "aion" refers to an age or time period.

The third usage of the word which is also from the Greek word kosmos, refers to the evil system of the world over which Satan superintends.

Even though this evil system of the world is also from "kosmos," but must be distinguished from God's creation which is good.

And it is this evil system of the world ruled by Satan  and his demons that John in his epistles usually refers to as the world (1 John 2:15-17

This is the world that Apostle John says, the one that is born of God overcomes. Thus the one that is born of God overcomes the devil and all his demons and their machinations. And this is because the one born of God has the seed of God in Him and this seed is greater than the devil and all his machinations in this world. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
