"But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead" (2 Corinthians 1:9 KJV)

One major challenge of people who believe they are strong in some ways or have some unique gifts or capacity is their tendency of puting their confidence in themselves or trusting themselves.

But Apostle Paul says in our devotional text that people who trust in themselves have the sentence of death in themselves. In other words to trust in your own self or put your confidence is your own ability is tantamount to death.

To the Apostle, instead of trusting in your own self, rather put your trust in God, who according to the Apostle raises up the dead. Glory to God! Hallelujah!

Thus, to Him, because God has the ability to raise the dead, it is better to put your confidence in Him rather than in yourself or any other thing. Thus, even if your ability was as weak as death, God still has what it takes to quicken or raise you up. On the other hand, because the life of man cannot sustain itself, anyone that dares to put his confidence in himself only ends up in death.

And this is why our Lord Jesus Christ said, he that will save his life shall lose it, but he that shall lose his life for His sake shall find it (Matthew 16:25). So from today always remember not to put your trust in yourself but in the living God who raises the dead. Glory to Jesus! Hallelujah!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the understanding that You have given me of not putting my trust in myself but in You. I declare that I am full of life even in superabundance as I put my trust in You in Jesus name. Amen!
