REPROVE; REBUKE; EXHORT
"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." (2 Timothy 4:2 KJV)
The word of God says we should be instant in the preaching of the gospel both in and out of season. We should reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Hallelujah!
Thus, after stressing the necessity for us to preach the gospel always, the word of God further gives the communication dimensions that we should use in doing this. These are to reprove, rebuke, and exhort. Hallelujah!
To reprove means to tell a fault, admonish, or convict. That is make people aware of their sinful state and pointing out to them, their need for salvation through Christ and their responsibility to live for him.
Rebuke is more like the reprove, but rebuke is usually harder than the reproof. Thus, some situations call for reproof, and other situations may call for rebuke.
To exhort means to call near, that is to counsel. Thus, after reproving or rebuking and people don't seem to catch it, you call them near through the process of counselling to really help them appreciate the message of the gospel, and their responsibility of living for Christ, and its subsequent blessings.
While there are some exceptions, I have always been of the view that people who reject the gospel reject it because they really don't know or have not believed in the blessings thereof. For if they have, what will make them reject so great salvation which has been given unto humanity.
And this is the reason why those of us who are fully convinced about the gospel must never give up on preaching unto others. As far as people are still alive on this earth, there is still hope for their salvation. So we must rise and preach it with all boldness unto them by either reproving them, rebuking them or exhorting them as the Holy Spirit leads us. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the opportunity to preach the word unto others. Indeed I reprove, rebuke and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. And by my preaching many are coming unto the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. Amen!
