"If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?" (Hebrews 12:7 KJV)

We saw yesterday that a good father is the one that has the ability to discipline his son. And the main reason for the discipline of the father is not merely to inflict some pain on the son, but for the son to build capacity to be able to represent the father and also bring Him glory.

Now reading from Hebrews 12:1, the word of God declares that seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, we should lay aside every sin and weight that easily beset us and run with perseverance the race that is set before us. Hallelujah!

And it is from this scripture that, Apostle Paul also emphasized the necessity of the discipline of sons by their father to help them in the running and finishing of the race set before them, even as they are being watched by many.

Thus, because sons bear the family name they must be disciplined to be able to put up the right character and to finish the race set before them, for those that see to honour both them and their father.

So a son that does not yield to the discipline of the father will not be able to run his race as expected of him and will consequently bring shame upon himself and unto the father. And for the father to avoid this he must discipline the son to always ensure that the son is on track and also demonstrating character that will rather bring glory and honour unto himself as a son and his father as well. This is why discipline is very essential in the father-son relationship. Glory to God! Hallelujah!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the understanding that You have given unto me concerning the purpose of discipline in the father-son relationship. I declare that as a son, I yield to every discipline that is given to me by my father in Jesus name. Amen!
