STIR UP THE HOLY GHOST IN YOU
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands." (2 Timothy 1:6 KJV)
In 'Paul's response to his son Timothy concerning the challenges that he was facing, he reminded Timothy to stir up the gift of God which was in the inside of him.
Note that by this gift, Apostle Paul was not talking about a particular gift of the Spirit, but the Holy Spirit Himself who has been given to us as God's gift according the promise which God made through the Old Testament prophets and finally confirmed the same through our Lord Jesus Christ in Acts 1:4-5.
The Holy Spirit has been given to us as God's ultimate help for us as His Children. But the Holy Spirit does not work automatically in us. He operates in and through us as we engage Him and yield to His operations in us.
Thus, for the Holy Spirit to effectively operate in the child of God, the child of God must constantly engage Him through various spiritual exercises like praying, fasting, meditation, etc.
This was what Apostle Paul was stressing for Timothy his Son. That instead of crying and wishing that someone will come and help him, he should just remember to stir up the gift of God which was in him as the ability of God in the person of the Holy Spirit.
Thus, as a child of God, God has given you, His Holy Spirit as Your number one helper, so always be conscious of Him and constantly engage Him to experience His full ministry in every area of your life in Jesus name. Amen!
