THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23)
In our devotional text, Galatians 5:22-23, Apostle Paul presents what He calls by the Holy Spirit, the fruit of the spirit.
The general understanding of this fruit is that, they are the fruit which the Holy Spirit bear in us. But in as much as this is true, it should be noted that these fruit are part of the characteristics of our recreated nature of righteousness, which is our recreated spirit. And it is the Holy Spirit who empowers our spirit to demonstrate these fruit through the renewal of our minds and the control or submission of our bodies.
Thus, whereas our spirit has the ability or potential to practice all these dimensions of the fruit of the spirit because of it's righteous state, our bodies lack that ability to demonstrate these fruit because of the sinful state of the body or flesh. This is why Apostle Paul said, the body is dead due to sin (Romans 8:10)
But the Holy Spirit empowers our bodies from within our recreated spirit and gives our bodies the ability to also demonstrate these fruit as part of our good works which others see and glorify God our Heavenly Father in Jesus name. Amen!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit within me. I declare that my body is adequately equiped to demonstrate these fruit of the spirit in all my affairs and daily walk of faith in Jesus name. Amen!
