THE STILL SMALL VOICE
"And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice." (1 Kings 19:12 KJV)
We saw yesterday that the basic way by which the Holy Spirit leads us is by the written word of God.
Whiles the written word of God is the basic way by which He leads us. There are other ways like visions, dreams, prophetic directions, discernment or the inner still voice.
And this was how the Lord appeared unto Elijah in our devotional text. The word of God says, there's wind but the Lord was not in it, there was Earthquake, but the Lord was not in it, there was fire but the Lord was not in it, and then there came a still small voice and it was in this still small voice that the Lord was.
Usually we tend to seek God or expect Him to appear unto us in some spectacular way like earthquake, fire, thunder, and some other obvious signs. But the way He mostly communicates unto us, even out of His Word is by that still small voice or inner intuition. Glory to God!
Nevertheless any intuition that we receive or voice that we hear but still be subject unto the written word of God. And we should take it as the word of God from God unto us only after it has been proven by the word of God. For God will never do anything or say anything which is outside of His word. So let the word be your main guiding principle in your walk with the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the opportunity to hear from You, through the still small voice of the Holy Spirit. I declare that I'm very sensitive to this voice and I operate by the same, even as I walk by Your word in Jesus name. Amen!
