THE THIRD PERSON OF THE GOD...

THE THIRD PERSON OF THE GODHEAD

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." (John 16:13 KJV)

The Godhead refers to the Holy Trinity, one of the core teachings of Christianity. According to the teaching of the Trinity God is eternally one but exist in the three persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Father is referred to as the first person of the Godhead, the Son is the second person of the Godhead, and the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead.

But some folks have misunderstood these persons to be levels of authority or glory with the Godhead. Thus, the Father having the highest authority and Glory, followed by the Son and then the Holy Spirit. But the Bible teaches that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are of one authority and glory (John 17:5). The Father as the first person implies that He was the first to carry out his earthly ministry with humanity, as he dealt with the Old Testament folks, and the Son was the second to carry out his earthly ministry with humanity by His incarnation and the Holy Spirit is the third to carry out His earthly ministry with humanity.

And this is why our Lord Jesus Christ in introducing the Holy Spirit, referred to Him as the Spirit of Truth or the Spirit of Christ Jesus Himself (John 16:13), and Jesus Christ as the life of the Father. This makes the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Son and the Spirit of the Father. And as the third person, He is currently the one representing both the Father and the Son in their collective ministry in this earth realm. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
