UNDERSTANDING PRAISE
"I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works." (Psalm 9:1 KJV)
We saw yesterday that many people have misunderstood these three spiritual exercising of the Christian faith: worship praise and thanksgiving. And whiles people have considered worship to be singing slow songs, and praise to be singing fast song, we understood that worship is not merely limited to singing or even singing slow songs, but demonstrating or expressing our Love unto God and one of the ways of doing this may be singing adorable or lovely songs unto Him.
In like manner, praise is not just about singing or singing fast songs but expression of your admiration unto God for what He has done, or still doing or what he will do. Thus, by praises You are telling God that He has done beautiful, or glorious thing and you ascribe the honour of doing that thing unto Him.
It's like you just saw a beautiful car by Toyota or any of the car manufacturing companys and your are expressing your admiration or how nice the car is to you.
That is what it means to praise God. And this is why the Psalmist said in our devotional text that, "I will praise thee oh Lord...I will show forth thy marvellous works." What God has done is great, its awesome and it's wonderful; and you express that to Him. And again like the worship, one of the ways you do this is by singing and celebrating Him for doing that great thing. Hallelujah! Glory to God!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the understanding that You've given me concerning praise. I declare that I praise You for all your marvellous works in my life in Jesus name. Amen!
