WALKING AFTER THE SPIRIT ...
WALKING AFTER THE SPIRIT LEADS TO WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16 KJV) The word of God says, we should walk in the Spirit and we shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Thus the remedy of not fulfilling the lust of the flesh is by walking in the Spirit. Sometimes people try several means of dealing with their lustful issues, but the one and only way to do this is by walking in the Spirit.
Now from Romans 8:1, the word of God talks about walking after the Spirit. So what is the difference between walking after the Spirit and walking in the Spirit and how do the two relate with each other.
Fundamentally speaking, walking after the Spirit is following after the leading of the Spirit and walking in the Spirit is actually doing that which the Spirit requires you to do. Thus, by walking after the Spirit you discern what the Spirit desires you to do, and this becomes the desire of your heart which you are willing to do. But whereas sometimes you are really able to do that which the Spirit desires you to do, which is your desire. Sometimes you fall short of that which the Spirit desires you to do, even though you have the willingness to do same.
So actually doing that which the Spirit desires us to do consistently is what the word of God refers to as walking in the Spirit. But our walk in the spirit, begins with our walk after the Spirit and our walk after the Spirit leads to our walk in the Spirit. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
