WHAT SHALL IT PROFIT A MAN...?

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36 KJV)

We've been looking at the fact that the core purpose of God for us is not merely to have some good life of marriage, family, relationship, job, businesses, finances, education, travelling or whatever, even though, these things are good. The main purpose or focus of God is for us to have eternal life, for it is unto it that we have all been called as sons and daughters of God. Hallelujah!

But it is some how difficult for some christians to embrace this reality, either because of the extent to which they have allowed their lives to depend on these things or how they have allowed themselves to suffer the absence of these things.

Note these two categories or persons. Those who due to their abundance of these secondary matters of life or civilian affairs have allowed their very lives to be built on them, and those who due to the pains they have endured just because they lack these matters also crave for them as the most important things of life.

But our Lord Jesus Christ addressed these two categories of persons just to help them to have the right focus or perspective in life, when He asked the rhetorical question: What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36). Selah!

This implies that having the whole world cannot be compared unto the gift of eternal life that we possess in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I don't know how this dawns on you. That the eternal life that we have is far greater that all the world and its glories given unto us. But many Christians have been very ignorant of this reality and this is why sometimes the devil wins the battle of temptation over them.

So just be conscious of the fact that, that eternal life that you have in Christ far outweighs all the world and anything that the world can ever offer you. Hallelujah! Glory to God in Jesus name. Amen!

Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for this great mystery You have revealed unto me, which is the value of the eternal life You have given me, and how it far surpasses all the world and its glory. I'm filled with all grace to walk in the full consciousness of this eternal life I have in Christ Jesus my Lord and Saviour. Amen!
