WHY YOU CANNOT HAVE MANY FATHE
WHY YOU CANNOT HAVE MANY FATHERS
"For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me." (1 Corinthians 4:15-16 KJV)
Usually it seems intriguing to some folks why they cannot have many spiritual fathers, seeing that many spiritual people help them in one way or the other.
The answer to this concern is in 1 Corinthians 4:16, where apostle Paul told the Corinthian church that because he is their spiritual father, they should follow him.
One key distinction between instructors and fathers, as we have already seen is the fact that while the instructor may help you in diverse ways, its your responsibility to follow your Father and desire to be like him. Because children are raised as sons to become like their father.
So if we have many fathers, who would we follow? And who would we want to become? This is a major challenge of having many fathers. And this was what Apostle Paul was stressing in 1 Corinthians 4:15-17, that any person ministering to the Corinthian church apart from himself do so as mere instructor, and while they have many instructors like Agabus, Peter, Apollos, Priscilla, Aquila, etc, who are all great men and women of God, all these people are only instructors unto them and that he Paul is their father whom they should follow unequivocally. Hallelujah!
Thus, whereas instructors helps us in diverse ways, God has given us fathers that we must follow and yield ourselves to their training to become like them even in our quest of becoming more like Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory to God! Hallelujah!
Prayer/Declaration
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the understanding that You have given me into fatherhood. I declare that I follow wholly after my father whom you have appointed for me and I grow into his likeness, even into the very likeness of Christ in every area of my life in Jesus name. Amen!
